| VALBONNE-SOPHIA-ANTIPOLIS | EXPOSITION DAÏ 'UN 'MOI' DE MARS' Du 19/03/2010 au 04/04/2010 Village, salle Saint-Esprit 14 h-18 h (sauf lundi), VALBONNE-SOPHIA-ANTIPOLIS Daï, plasticien niçois né en 1948, est tout à la fois illustrateur, dessinateur, sculpteur… Adepte de la figuration libre, il fait feu de tout bois surtout quand il est de récupération ou échoué sur une plage. Ses personnages favoris aux faciès de pierrot lunaire s'inscrivent dans des écrins de hasard -boites de sardines, cagettes de marché- et contemplent notre monde avec un humour un peu désenchanté. Pour son exposition personnelle à la salle Saint-Esprit, cet artiste singulier dans tous les sens du terme, livre son « moi » sous ses multiples facettes… Une démarche qui ravira ses nombreux « fans ». *** Daï a un matériau de prédilection, le bois, qu'il agrémente des déchets divers trouvés sur les plages. A l'aide de quelques lattes de palettes il a par exemple inventé une famille aux formes longilignes, mélange de Buster Keaton et de Pierrot lunaire. A ses côtés se décline tout un univers animé, parfois articulé, où cohabitent d'étranges créatures : sardines, poissons lunes aux couleurs acidulées, et tout un petit peuple de personnages nés du hasard de la collision d’objets qui les composent. Mais l'imagination de l'artiste est vagabonde et peut aussi l'entraîner vers d'autres rivages : peinture, bande dessinée ou même art conceptuel… « Daï », écrit un critique, « puise son inspiration dans une sorte de banalité du quotidien d’où il tire avec tendresse (et un remarquable sens de la composition et de la couleur) des images très évocatrices d’un monde disparu ou en voie de disparition. L’artiste frôle de très près l’art brut. Dubuffet aurait peut-être trouvé que certaines de ses œuvres « font appel au fond humain originel et à l’invention la plus spontanée et personnelle ».
